Registered Nurse - Cardio Thoracic ICU (Travel Assignment)

Job Overview:

Chesapeake’s Cardio Thoracic ICU (CTICU) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment . The RN will provide critical care to post-operative CABG patients, STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF cases , and will also care for stepdown patients under the universal bed model .

Key Details:

• Start Date: June 30, 2025
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed Weekly Hours: 36 (48-hour contract option available)
• Weekend Coverage: Required every other weekend
• Floating: Required within the facility

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of CVICU/CTICU experience required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required via AHA
• Charting System: EPIC proficiency required (Hard Stop if not proficient)
• License Requirement: VA or Compact RN license must be in hand at submission—no exceptions

Specialized Responsibilities:

Core ICU Procedures:

• Arterial line & PICC line management
• Blood product administration & central line care
• CABG post-op care, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump management
• Titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Ventilator management, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP

Neuro & Advanced Care:

• Post-brain surgery care, EVD experience/ventriculostomy
• Multi-system organ failure management
• IV insulin protocols, CVVHD/CRRT for renal failure
• Thermoregulation techniques (hypothermia/hyperthermia)

Additional Notes:

• Observed Holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day
• Local Rules: No candidates within 50 miles —driver’s license required for address verification
• Time Off Policy: Upfront RTO submission required
• Scrub Color: Provided by facility
