Provides direct patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated health care professional under federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health. Provides basic patient care to include, but is not limited to, care and comfort, record vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and mobility, including unit-based specialty duties. Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns to the nurse. Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patient's families, visitors, and all employees. Provides accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient care. Uses professional, verbal, and written communication skills at all times. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures. Scheduled for 36 weekly hours, shift time 7am - 7pm, with scheduled shifts every other weekend. Preferred education: High School Diploma or GED. Licensure/Certification Required: State-tested Nurse Assistant, completion of HHA/Nursing Assistant Training class, 1+ year of aide experience in a clinical setting, completion of HCA training related to acute care setting or Nursing Student with First Clinical Rotation complete. BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association. Preference for recent experience in acute care and/or long-term care facility. Basic computer skills required. Experience providing patient care or working in a specialty area in a hospital setting preferred. Working conditions include periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads, exposure to high noise levels and bright lights, possible physical altercations and verbal abuse, limited hazardous substances or body fluids, use of physical restraints, exposure to human blood and other potentially infectious materials, and periods of constant interruptions.
